Dear South Coast Plaza Retailer,

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of the South Coast Plaza marketing programs. We are excited to announce a new format for our 2021 lease required publication program, which consists of 100% digital distribution. I am also happy to announce that the participation fees for this lease required program (section 15.07 of your South Coast Plaza lease) have been reduced by 20% from the 2020 rates.

This new digital publication program will allow us to highly target individual markets based on specific categories such as women’s fashion, men’s fashion, accessories, children’s, home and beauty, etc. Precise targeting will maximize exposure and recognition for your brand.

In 2021, we will continue to produce seasonal original photography for all participating brands within the program. We will also continue to work with the highest level of talent including photographers, models, hair and makeup artists, fashion and still life stylists, etc. South Coast Plaza is committed to working with each individual brand in an effort to make this new and exciting digital program a success from the very beginning. Brogan Tennyson Group, our marketing partner, will continue to handle this program and is committed to its success.

Highlights

  • As an incentive, if your insertion order is submitted on or prior to October 30, 2020, the cost for this program will not only fulfill your publication requirement from section 15.07 of your lease, but it will also be counted toward your advertising lease requirement for 2021 (section 15.05 of your lease). Please see Insertion Order for details.
  • The participation rates for the 2021 program have been reduced by 20% over the 2020 rates.

Overview

PROCESS

Based on the original photography produced by Brogan Tennyson Group, unique flights will be created by merchandise categories; for example, women’s fashion, women’s accessories, children’s, home and beauty, etc. BTG will follow the same process as past years for the original photography portion of this program. Once the flights are finalized, we will create e-books and/or stories that will live on the South Coast Plaza website. Flights will contain a smaller number of brand images so that they can be targeted toward unique markets. The digital and paid social media distribution will connect the online reader/customer to these e-books and/or stories where your ad is placed. Additional information regarding your featured merchandise, along with your brand name and your SCP boutique’s phone number will be displayed as part of your participation.

MOBKOI
South Coast Plaza will once again partner with Mobkoi, a mobile advertising company that provides ‘polite’ ad placement on premium editorial websites that have been curated to bring awareness to the most qualified leads. Mobkoi has proved to be a very successful platform for South Coast Plaza and its retailers. The ads will be custom made with dynamic full screen capabilities, utilizing the final original photography that is included in your fee. They will be placed under each publication’s content and will be user initiated for a seamless and immersive brand experience. All of our digital and social media distribution will bring customers to these e-books and/or stories.

INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK    
We will run a comprehensive social media advertising campaign on both Instagram and Facebook. By producing Immersive Story Ads for each platform that will drive viewers to the full e-book and/or story on southcoastplaza.com, we are vastly increasing our reach and engagement.

WE WILL RUN COMPREHENSIVE AND QUALIFIED FLIGHTS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING:

BASED ON ANALYTICS FROM RECENT SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS, WE WILL BE ENGAGING WITH SEVERAL TARGETED AUDIENCES BASED ON BOTH INTERESTS AND BEHAVIORS. THEY INCLUDE:
Luxury Shoppers, Luxury Travelers, Interested in Music and Culture, Interested in Asian Culture and Asian Regions.

Our digital strategist expert will monitor, revise and update these campaigns on a regular basis to ensure maximum results.

WECHAT  
In addition, we will be utilizing the WeChat platform, partnering with Asian language media and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), reaching highly engaged subscribers, in the Los Angeles to San Diego markets.

VIEW 2021 TERMS AND CONDITIONS HIGHLIGHTS

Please note the following terms and conditions for 2021

  • South Coast Plaza retains sole discretion on which retailers participate in which digital flight.
  • South Coast Plaza retains sole creative discretion on how the merchandise will be photographed, including models, styling, hair, makeup, locations, props, background, lighting, cropping, as well as focus, clarity, sharpness and color of photography.
  • South Coast Plaza requests that Retailers provide several merchandise options. South Coast Plaza reserves the right to preapprove the merchandise and may either request new merchandise from the Retailer or move the Retailer to a different flight that is more appropriate for the merchandise.
  • Retailer is required to specify on the Merchandise Control Form all styling and product guidelines with preferences of first choice, when multiple options are presented; styling and product guidelines will be considered, but adherence to them is not guaranteed. If product guidelines are not provided, South Coast Plaza will assume Retailer has selected not to make any recommendations and shall use its own judgment in producing the ad.
  • Retailer may feature a maximum of one item in a still photograph unless South Coast Plaza requests otherwise.
  • A PDF proof will be sent via email to Retailer. Retailer must print, sign, and fax or email the proof to Brogan Tennyson Group to indicate that the proof has been reviewed.
  • Ad rates include one hour of photo retouching to cover minor alterations such as smoothing out wrinkles, and making skin tone corrections and color corrections. Additional changes requested by Retailer will be billed at a rate of $500/hour. Match-proof requests will be charged at a rate of $125 each.
  • Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice from South Coast Plaza, on or around the first in-home date.
  • The South Coast Plaza Insertion Order and Terms and Conditions override any Retailer-specific or Retailer Advertising Agency-specific Insertion Orders and Terms and Conditions.
  • Unfulfilled lease requirements will result in a mandatory Promotional Fund assessment.
  • Once a signed Insertion Order is received, Retailer is required to participate in the Program.

2021 BUS SHELTER ADVERTISING PROGRAM

The Bus Shelter Advertising Program delivers maximum exposure to highly targeted customers. The bus shelter is located on a high-traffic street bordering South Coast Plaza, in front of Nordstrom and Tiffany & Co. The cost to participate in this program will be applied towards the tenant’s 2021 South Coast Plaza Lease-required Advertising (Section 15.05 of the Lease).

MAC files are strongly preferred, but we can work with PC files as well.

  • All files must be in CMYK color space
  • If PMS matching is required, build files using PMS numbers, not 4-color process values
  • Always supply a proof for color matching. If a proof is unavailable, a PDF for position is mandatory

APPLICATION SPECIFICS

Illustrator
Files must be built in CMYK with images LINKED, NOT EMBEDDED.
Layouts with embedded images will immediately fail preflight and must be resubmitted. Simply place images and save files as .ai, preserving links. Send all high-resolution links as well.

Photoshop
Files must be built in CMYK. Please refer to the chart below to determine necessary resolution. Files that are not built to sufficient resolution CANNOT be resized or “rezzed up” and must be resubmitted. Please rasterize all type layers.

QuarkXPress/InDesign
Make sure all links are provided. Printer and screen fonts are required as well. When using low-res FPO images, verify that FPO and high-resolution files have identical physical dimensions or shifting will occur.

CorelDRAW
Files must be built in CMYK with images LINKED, NOT EMBEDDED. Convert all text to outlines (especially if from PC platform).
Export final file as Illustrator .eps or .ai.

2021 DISPLAY CASE PROGRAM

The Display Case Program reaches these visitors and delivers in-center exposure for your retail business. With display cases located in high-traffic areas of the shopping center and the adjacent Westin South Coast Plaza, your merchandise will be showcased to targeted affluent shoppers. The cost to participate in this program will be applied towards the tenant’s 2021 South Coast Plaza Lease-required Advertising (Section 15.05 of the Lease).

Large display case in prime entrance area adjacent to the luxury retail wing. Retailer logo and location will be displayed on the glass window. Each case has an alarm and interior lights. Retailers are responsible for design and installation of displays, with South Coast Plaza’s approval.
